WHAT IS DIGITALENTS?
Digitalents Helsinki is a modern and creative youth community, in which young people learn coding, game development and new media by doing.
The vision is modelled on the golden age of San Francisco, during which the experimentation carried out at the universities of Stanford and Berkley, as well as by a number of small bedroom companies, gave rise to the greatest development of the digital sector, laying the foundations for companies such as Google, Apple and Intel. Even today, combining different people, a culture of experimentation and a sense of community can result in the creation of something new.
Digitalents develops the expertise and working life skills of the participating young people, while also opening doors to further studies, employment and new networks.
Digitalents Helsinki provides young people with an inspiring community, which creates innovations and develops expertise through learning by doing and experimentation.
This doing can consist of coding, software development, game development, graphics design, service design and the use and testing of new technologies, for example.
The young people participating in Digitalents Helsinki carry out commissioned work for business partners and refine their own ideas into products. Conceptualisation, productisation and branding is conducted by taking part and experimenting in real projects, with the support of professional project workers and business mentors.
In 2017, Digitalents Helsinki will be operating out of the facilities of the Maria 0-1 startup community in Helsinki.
We are now searching for 16–29-year-old young people interested in the digital sector to participate in Digitalents Helsinki.
